The MTR Corporation is dedicated to providing an accessible and integrated transport system and is excited to announce complimentary travel within the MTR network for passengers with disabilities and a designated caregiver on November 10, 2024, in celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities “Free Ride Day”.
“As the city’s largest public transport provider, the MTR Corporation always focuses on promoting diversity and inclusion and offering caring services. We are pleased to support the 2024 International Day of Persons with Disabilities ‘Free Ride Day’ by offering free rides to people with disabilities and their caregivers. Our aim is to encourage their participation in this event while also expressing appreciation and recognition for the caregivers’ selfless dedication. At the same time, we hope they can leverage on our extensive network to tour around and explore the diverse aspects and unique features of Hong Kong, enjoying a pleasant day out,” said MsJeny Yeung, Managing Director – Hong Kong Transport Services of the MTR Corporation.
Free Travel Program for Persons with Disabilities
Passengers who have a valid Registration Card for People with Disabilities, a Personalised Octopus card, or a JoyYou Card marked with “Persons with Disabilities Status” are eligible for free travel with a caregiver on November 10. Here are the details for the day:
Passengers are advised to check the latest service updates, including information about station lifts and accessible facilities like ramps and stair lifts, on the MTR website, through the MTR Mobile app, and the “MTR · Care” app before traveling. They should also listen for station and onboard announcements for any changes to train services on that day. For additional assistance, passengers are encouraged to reach out to station staff.
